Vulcan Nomad 1600 starter switch

I have a '08 Nomad w/35K on the odometer. Up till now, I just had to press the starter button and it fired up, but lately, when I push the button (it has a spring return), I get a click. When I press the button harder, it starts up and runs fine.
I think there might be corrosion on the contact, but I'm wary about taking the thing apart since the housing also contains the kill switch and the tubes for the throttle cables.
So, is this a simple open, clean, close affair or should I have a pro look at it?
