For 9 yrs now Honda has known about the engineering problem they have had with there flange bearings. Yet NO attempt to find a permanent fix. No recall, how can you recall if they don't care to fix the problem. Its easer to come up with 20 reasons why the 1800 wont sell. Close the factory, discount out the thousands of remaining 1800's and let some unexpected biker have to deal with the problem. If this was a car problem, I will guarantee they would have to recall and fix there problem. In this case its easer to just let the problem die away as the 1800's go out of service. I personally will not buy another motorcycle from a company that does not care to take care of a bad design after 9 yrs, & then let the paying public beware ! I absolutly love my 1800, but after 2 more oil changes, I will be way over a 100k, time to put the bike up on blocks, wait for the riding public to find the cure for the flange problem. I will be replacing the 1800 with a motorcycle thats had a bike with a proven track record in the feild of maintance, and a manufacture that will back a problem if discovered.

Like every other manufacturer, Honda is sensitive to excessive warranty repair costs. If they aren't losing enough money repairing bikes under warranty, they won't go to the expense of changing the design and manufacturing.
