I am looking for a nice strong bike thats easy to maintain and not too hard on the rear gear for Patriot rides and Runs To The Wall along with everyday riding. Many would suggest a Harley but they are too expensive. I have always had great fortune with Japanese bikes. A used bike in mint condition would save me money.
I like sport touring but considering who i ride with a cruiser is more appropriate.
I am experienced and i am 60 years old. I need a bike that handles a little easier than my 98 valkyrie..seemed hard for me a low speed manuevering. I am 6ft 4 and 250. I would like a bike that is sharp to look at or preferably not too old man looking. Goldwings are beautiful bikes but i would prefer something simplier. I do not care about music ..just want to hear the pipes. Big power is fine.
What are your suggestions? The dealership that i have my Valkyrie at for storage sells new/used Suzukis and Hondas. I have heard great things about Triumph Rockets but have read that they can have mechanical problems. I am not real familiar with M-109rs or C-109rs. I am not familiar with Honda VTXs ..i do like the looks of these bikes. Looking for now.

If you want to look truly retro (old school, not old), find a Kawi Drifter, they were made in both 800 and 1500cc versions. I had the 800, and except for having to lube the chain with full valenced fenders, it's a snap to own, maintain, and ride. They come in in the high 500-low 600lb range, with low center of gravity. Pop a thunder air kit on it, and you have quite a bit of torque. Pop on an aftermarket exhaust, you get a little more horsepower, and noise, but, you lose the torque boost.
The money you save on one of them would pay for a stunning paint job.
