Just getting back into motorcycle game. Had been a dedicated Harley guy, but have been hearing a lot about Victory motorcycles. Started doing some digging and came across this image (http://www.coolhunting.com/archives/2009/08/sonny_barger_x.php) of Sonny Barger on a Victory Vision.
So what are your thoughts on this? Is Victory the real deal? Are Harley's more an image than an actual good ride? Is Sonny on to something we don't know about?

Kevans, Victory has made it 10 years and they're growing. That has to say something.
I haven't ridden either but did sit on them at the IMS last year when it was in Dallas. There are at least one third of the Harleys I'd never think of buying because they just didn't feel right. Don't recall that with the Victory. The best way to decide is to try 'em before you buy 'em.
Some people see Harleys as pure image bikes now, some swear by them and talk about how good they feel and ride. Others dispute that.
Victory has Arlen Ness and his clan designing for them, and I think Roland Sands is on board with them, too. Those are some big names who are successful and don't have to do that for the bucks, which says something for Victory.
I like 'em, at least the way they look. Haven't done more than sit on one but they look and sound good and have some 'tude to them.
Like everything, there are pluses and minuses to them. Both are respectable and you probably can't go wrong with either as long as it works for you.
Good luck deciding. Ride safe, watch out for cagers on cell phones, and thank The Man Upstairs for every safe ride.

One of my mate at work just picked up a Victory Vagas 2 weeks ago, what a great looking ride from the wheels up & the paint job is awesome the best I have seen on any production bike, fitted with quality parts & a huge Dennie E3 250 rear tyre. The sound of the 106ci motor is a deep V-twin thump & he tells me the ride is very smooth. If your looking at them take one for a ride see how you like it. Victory have only been around for ten years but I think thay have put HD on notice.
MY RIDE: 2009 Pearl Black Suzuki Boulevard M109R (VZR1800K9) MODS: Cobra Dragster pipes/ K&N High flow air filters/ K&N High flow oil filter/ Dunlop E3 250 rear/ Chrome Grill
