I have a 2009 Vulcan 900 Custom and yesterday on my way to work my shifter stopped resetting after downshifting. It will reset after an up shift just fine, but after a downshift I have to get under it with my foot and manually reset it. This situation is not ideal for an everyday driver. Today I changed my oil thinking that might be causing it but no dice. I also WD-40'ed where the shifter meets up with the transmission with no success. Has anyone had a similar issue? And how was it remedied? Thanks for any help you can offer.

I got it figured out, I took off the bolt holding the shifter onto the peg and there was some grime that worked its way between the shifter and one of the washers keeping it from springing back up. Some WD-40 and she's good as new. Thanks for all the looks, hopefully this can help someone else in the future.
