Hey Everyone, I'd like to gather some ideas for future rides and was hoping I could get your help. Just one simple question, what has been your favorite ride to date?
I would have to say that the Blue Ridge Parkway is my current favorite. Any input will be greatly appreciated.

I'd have to say Blue Ridge isn't on my top of list (ok, it was late May, raining/fogging temps in the upper 40's on both days I tried to ride it.
Favorite rides for me 1) Ended up at Lincoln Memorial University in Tenn.(why isn't it in Ky?), but, headed south and hit I picked up rt 63. Rode it all the way into Sneedville Tn. population 1200 (county seat too). Got some gas, got some food, and then headed out on about the only other road out of town that I could find - rt 33. Forty miles later, I found myself just about 8 miles from Lincoln Memorial University. Cut back over Powell Mtn, and spent the night in Big Rock Va.
2) Up in New Hampshire, My niece, my wife and I were at a Women on Wheels weekend event just north of North Conway, NH. One of the listed rides to go out and do was Hurricane Mtn Rd. It had just been re-paved, so it was pristine. I don't think up or down we ever got much over 15mph. Steep switchbacks on both the up and down. 3) Start in Lake George, and head up on 9N then loop around the lake, back to the village. Not technical, just scenic.

I've been to a lot of great looking places. Tahoe, Yosemite, the passes of the Sierras, but the best place I've ridden are in Nevada. Highway 50, Highway 6, and the Extraterrestial Highway. There aren't many turns, but there aren't many cars either. You could easily go for 100 miles and not see anything but a cow. In fact, that is pretty usual.
I ride to avoid thinking about stuff and to get my blood pressure back down again, so that is paradise for me. Sometimes I like the twisties of the high mountain rodes, but I always dream about one hand on the throttle and the other on my knee and just going for a few hours.
Bring extra gas and water though, because you might pick up a 40 mph headwind and that drops your range significantly.

For me, 'where' has never mattered. It's all about the feel of going down the road. A smooth road with little or no traffic can be found just about anywhere and riding in the dark makes it even better.
regards, Joe

Highway 89 in southern Utah is nice, especially if you take the side trip through Zion National Park. There is a 1 1/4 mile long tunnel you get to ride through. I don't have any pictures of Zion's National Park from bike rides, but here is a picture of Zion's from a trip with our car.

If you continue south on Highway 89, once you get to Kanab, UT take Highway 89A (highway 89 alternate) in northern Arizona. The mountain roads past Jacobs Lake are a lot of fun, and this is a much more scenic route to Page, AZ and Glenn Canyon Dam.

Sweet car! I'll have to check out this route when I get down to AZ next time for a visit. Got a buddy that lives in Phoenix. Thanks for the tip.
