I recently purchased a 2008 Kawasaki Vulcan 900 Touring model motorcycle. It has a significant dent in the front and rear rims.

1. Can the chrome rims be straightened or do I get new ones? Where should I get the rims?

2. Can they re-use my spokes or do I need new ones?

3. It also needs new tires. What kind of tires should I get?

Thanks!

I've never heard of anyone willing to assemble a wheel with used spokes, for someone else to ride on. I've known some guys cheap enough that they might have done that on their own wheels...

Without high resolution pics, I doubt anyone will be willing to try to guess how badly the rims are damaged. Unless the rider was running on nearly flat tires, I'd be more concerned with the condition of the spoke dimples on the other side of the wheel from the dents. Dimple damage requires the rim to be replaced, no matter how minor the dents might be.

Personally, I like Continental Milestones on cruisers.

regards,

I agree, "dents" are bad. They make the whole tire assembly out of round. slight left right is what the spokes are designed to correct.

I'd check on getting the rims straightened by a professional. It may be possible. Dump the spokes... you wouldn't know which ones got stressed by the dent. You're only going to save $20 by re-using them anyway.
