Liquid cooled bike.  Fan keeps running after hitting kill switch.  Is this normal?

It is indeed normal.  Most modern cars also do that, too, but you can't hear the fan.  At the end of a long ride on a hot day, if your fan DOESN'T do that, then you should be worried.

Should I leave the ignition on until the fan stops?  I know this sounds stupid but this is my first street bike.  Thanks for your help.

When you shut the engine off, go ahead and shut off the ignition switch also. Leaving the ignition on when the engine is not running is bad for your battery.

Some bikes are wired so the fan keeps running with the ignition switch off and some are wired so the fan shuts off when you shut the ignition off. It doesn't really matter, because the fan doesn't use much current from the battery and it won't run very long since it's only cooling the water in the radiator.
