Have an 07 Stratoliner. The bike runs great, however there are two distinct noises that are not right; 1) I have a random howl. 2) I have an unusual amount of topend clatter. Anyone experience the same? If so, are you aware of a fix?

If the howl is random, it's the wind in your ears, rather than the bike. Try a different helmet. Howling from the bike is usually a tire with low pressure, cupping or both, but it's not random.

I also have an 07 Stratoiner.I don't have any howling, but I can occasionally hear a varying pitch low moan which I think is the transmission.Even with the same helmet I don't always hear it which I think is due to the direction of the wind/breeze and how it carrys sound. The upper end clatter I don't know,my bike runs like a raped ape.Great motorcycle.

I've had the belt adjusted, the tires have the proper air preasure, tires are not cupped and it's not the wind. Bike will begin the howl as I said at random times, it continues at any speed and often does not stop until I've almost come to a stop. Typically it does not start until warmed up. I've spoken to one other strat rider and he's also experienced this noise, but was unaware of a cause or fix.
As for the topend clatter, 5th gear at eighty, no problem, 4th gear at sixty on a slslight grade and it sounds like my old Ford F-150 with lifter problems.
Thanks for your feedback
