I have a 2006 Kawasaki Nomad 1600. I just bought this bike a couple of months ago. I got the bike petty cheap because it was in an accident. I had to replace the front forks, now the bike drives well. My problem is the bike is running to rich, when the bike is hot after cruising for ten minuets or so, and I shut the bike off and try to restart it, it floods out. When I start the bike first thing in the mourning it blows black smoke out of the tail pipes. I also notice that the cold start function is not working. Also I’m not getting any type of fuel injection light on, so there is no code to tell me what is wrong. The Bike drives great going down the road. I’m not a mechanic, but I have talked to a couple of guys and what I have been told is that I might have a sensor out, or it could be the computer. If any body has had this problem or has any suggestions, maybe to what sensor I start to test first (there is like a million of them on the bike) or any thing else I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks, Zane

Yeah, Kawasaki's FI systems do run richer than the carbuerated models did, but still the problem should be limited to carbon buildup rather than flooding.
This site isn't very good for the specific type of information you need. You'll find a much larger and more knowledgable group at the techtalk forum at www.vroc.org (Vulcan Owners & Riders Club).
regards, Joe -- Hurry up?!? Why? I have all the rest of my life to do everything I'm going to do.

Since the bike was in an accident, it's just possible the problem is in the enricher, where it's not coming off, in spite of the "choke" position. Could have been bent, displaced, moved...
I'd have that looked at 1st. 2nd would be to see if they did any mods like a power commander.
Oh yeah, worst case, there is a throttle position sensor ( aka TPS), the sensor is not available as a separate item. Had one go bad on a Mean Streak. Kawi wanted $800+ for the body throttle assembly, found it on the net for $550. They aren't available used.
