Im installing new Hooker Troublemakers on my '06 XLC. Im wondering if I do need a jet kit and new air intake, which is what a shop is telling me, so it won't run lean and burn a piston. Is this true??

Maybe, but probably not. It depends on just what mpg you are actually getting. Even the shovelheads had no problem running 55 mpg when cruising at a steady pace on the freeways. What you might have to do is run a slightly cooler spark plug, although I never found that to be necessary either. Read the spark plugs to see if it makes any significant difference at all.
