Recently swithced from Dunlop to a Michelin Commander Tire on a stock '99 Ultra Classic. Wasn't getting the milage on the Dunlop's like I wanted. Had Michelin's on my truck for years and like them. Decided to try a pair on the Harley. First pair .. felt good, road good
but really no better milage. Two months ago, replaced year tire, front tire still good. This time a mechanic friend mounted the tire, callS me over to look at this new tire. SIDE WALLS EXTREMELY WEAK. Having already bought the tire, mounted it on the bike anyway.
Specs Call For: Load Capacity 908 lbs./Inflation Pressure 40 lbs.
This weekend, coming home, running about 45mph, hit the break a bit stiff, but really not bad. Had the girlfriend on the back. With both of us on the bike,
adverage maybe 400 lbs. Hit the breaks for a left turn, REAR END GOES TOTALLY SQUIGGLY! In a flash, left right left... let off the break, stir straight, but hit a patch of loose gravel. Bike pitched, throws us,
rolls/flips, ends up upside down in the ditch.
End result... bike totally trashed, road rash on us,but basically ok. ANGELS DO EXIST! AMEN!
Hind sight... felt the tire sit down. FIRMLY BELIEVE THE WEAK SIDE WALLS GAVE AWAY CAUSING THE WRECK. Checked air pressure, had 32 lbs. No skid marks noted on the road the next day, just gaulges in the pacement from the bike itself.

QUESTION: Has anybody else had Side Wall Product Failure from Michelin Commander Tires? Approx.32 lbs of air and 400 lbs of carry weight doesn't seem totally wroung to me! We all ride tires a bit lower for riding comfort. I believe this was Product Failure.
Warning everybody here, about this. Checking consumer guide I saw Michelin had A LOT of side wall problems with car tires, tread seperation, bubbles, blowouts, etc. Saw recall on a different Michelin M/C Tire.

Would like to hear from y'all about this. Personally,
I would advise all my Brother's and Sister's... DON'T BUY MICHELIN.
CHEERS....oh yea, KEEP THE RUBBER ON THE ROAD, NOT IN THE AIR!
