Hi i'm new to the forums. i had many bikes in my younger years. the last was a 1979 superglide, i sold 10 years ago. to see if i still liked to ride i purchaced a 82 honda gl500 silverwing. i quickly discovered 2 things i still enjoy riding and the bike was to small. i have narrowed my choices down to a 2000 honda 1100 aero and a 2003 suzuki volisia i have a few questions will i be dissapointed in the power these bikes make when compared to the old 80" superglide i don't haul a passenger and will be commuting and riding for fun, how much more performance will the honda have than the suzuki i guess i mean torque, i enjoy poking along in a higher gear and being able to roll on the throttle without shifting thanks steve

Well, the stock honda VT1100 produces about about 15% more power than the early stock HD 1340's did. When you factor in the 5 speed gearbox instead of 4 and a 100 pounds lighter bike, you'll find the Aero to be quite a bit more responsive to the throttle than the '79 FXSG was.

regards,
Joe
