Just curious how much bikers pay for insurance. I was going to purchase an 09 Vulcan LT but decided to wait until spring since I didn't want to pay for 5 months of insurance when I would not be riding that much. I was quoted through my company for full coverage at $54/month $0 deductible for comprehensive and $500 for collision. Value of the bike considered $9,000.00
I only had liability with my other bikes and that was several years ago. Just want to compare and see if my company is in line.
Thank you!

I pay $62 a year for the minimum insurance mandated by the state. If I can't afford to replace it, I can't afford to ride it.

I paide 225 for the year. That was AAA. I may go with another company next year that has relationships with more repair shops. The value of my bike was probably 8,000. That's in California. I think I had the minimal coverage for a bike. I also have two cars, a house, and a pick up truck with AAA...

I pay about $500 for a 2003 Gold Wing, and about the same for an '03 Kawi Mean Streak. Not worth the same, just the way Mass does it. Both have $500 Collision on them.
Big factors on the price of insurance are where you live, and your driving record, and where you park the bike. Tickets are going to jack the price, since it means you are a "risk taker". Outdoor parking means your bike can be plucked more easily, especially in an urban environment. I'd get several quotes, unless you are in a controlled state (like mass). If you don't have a loan, some people surrender plates at the end of the riding season, and convert the policy to just fire and theft for the winter. Then convert it back, and re-register the bike in the spring. Insurance companies hate it, and some won't take you back in the spring, but, someone will.

I pay $109 per year from Allstate for my 2005 Honda Shadow Aero. That doesn't include medical insurance since my health insurance covers me. Besides, the most medical I can get from Allstate on my motorcycle policy is $10,000 and that won't cover more than a bandaid.

I pay $230 per year here in Connecticut. Pretty much the same coverage as on my car - they just lumped it in together.

Bob:
It's only a relevant question if you can find male riders close to your age/same age, in your ZIP code, with a similar/same motorcycle AND the same driving record, history and marital status. What I pay in Los Angeles (well, Glendale) isn't even the same that I paid in Oakland (at least for my car, somehow I've got this "miracle" deal on my motorcycle insurance but that's not important).
The best you can do for yourself is contact by phone or WWW all the insurance companies you can find and give them all of the TRUE info so you can get an accurate quote. You have to also make sure that you're comparing the same coverage limits for each policy. I know that shopping around can sometimes save a person over $1000.

What nobody has mentioned yet is your credit rating.
Insurance companies say they have discovered a statistical relationship between low credit rating and more frequent claims, so they get to charge more if you have a low credit rating.
