Hello Friends,

I just joined the group and am eager to get to know my new friends. I have a 2004 Nomad (with fuel injection) and am very happy with it. I am planning a major tour next year, and am thinking very seriously about gel or sheepskin seat pads for me and the wife. I have the stock seat on the bike, and wanted to know who else here has already crossed that hurtle and can give me some sound advice on brand names, fit, sizes, etc. for the best way to protect my butt on the long haul. I don't want to buy a new seat, as the factory one is fine for day-to-day running, and I have already installed a driver's backrest for me and a tour-pack for my wife to lean back on. Any good war stories out there?
Thanks, and Peace,

Can't tell you about the Nomad, haven't owned one, but I had a Drifter (800). Stock Seat sucked. You knew in 40 miles you were in trouble. I replaced it with a Kawi Fire and Steel (the seat it should have come with). I could do 400 miles in a day on that seat.
I think the best advice is take a couple of 1-200 mile jaunts with your wife on the back, and see how you make out. Part of it may be breaking in the seat, and part of it is breaking in your butts.
In the spring I couldn't do 300 miles, but, with a couple of shorter runs, I build up to it pretty quickly.
