I have a 2002 honda vtx 1800 with 3000 miles
the bike is great but has started to run very rich and stalling out at idle,missing ,black smoke ect.

Sounds like a vacuum line is sucking air and the bike is compensating by injecting more fuel than it needs. I'd have it looked at if you aren't capable of inspecting the throttle bodies.
First however I'd clean the plugs and check spark.
