The Vulcan 900 (Classic? Custom) is a fine bike. Make sure of the following:
1) You get the proper rider training, such as a MSF course;
2) Make sure you get a motorcycle endorsement on your driver's license;
3) Make sure you carry insurance;
4) Make sure you wear a full set of riding gear -- full face helmet, full gloves (NOT fingerless lest you end up that way), motorcycle jacket and riding pants, and motorcycle boots. Since you saved so much on the price of the bike, don't cheap out on gear--get good quality stuff that fits you right.
5) Ride a lot and have fun.

All motorcycles are good today; in fact bloody hard finding a bad one! different style of bikes for a different style of riding. I've just bought a Suzuki Bandit 1255s after 7 years of cruising around on my Kawasaki Nomad. miss the Nomad like crazy, but love the sports tourer because the handling is sharp and the power is phenominal. Think about overtaking.... DONE! Hit the brakes, whatch you don't go over them there bars, hit the twisties, hell lets turn round and do them again. But, a little bitty water appears in my eyes when I see a cruiser go throbbing by....Just enjoy your ride, no matter what your on!

>hope i made the right choice
Of course you didn't :-)
As you get used to riding, you'll find details on the bike, you wish were different. You'll soon be coveting several other bikes. This is normal. Finding the perfect bike is a never ending quest. Even people who build their own are not satisfied for very long.
