i have an 82 yamaha virago 750. When it starts it runs rough. Then when i try to put into gear it kills the bike immedatly. And it grinds the gears as its going into gear. I dont know if its clutch or cable or neutral switch... any responce would be very helpful.Thanks  

It sounds like you may have too much slack in the clutch cable.

Another possibility is a sticking interlock switch on the sidestand, but I don't know if that bike even has a sidestand interlock switch.
