![]() SHALIMAR, Fla. -- Military and civilian supporters of the Air Force Enlisted Village are gearing up for the inaugural “Ride for Military Widows,” a motorcycle poker run to benefit the AFEV. The event is scheduled for Oct. 11, and the poker run will take participants through some of the most beautiful parts of Northwest Florida, with the chance for riders to win more than $5,000 in cash and prizes. The ride kicks off with a free breakfast for the first 300 participants at Bob Hope Village in Shalimar. The second stop on the run is Teresa Village, the Air Force Enlisted Village’s Fort Walton Beach location. At both stops, riders will have the chance to meet residents, and to see first-hand how money donated to the charity is used. Following stops will include Heritage Cycles Harley-Davidson of Fort Walton Beach, Helen Back Too Café in Mary Esther, Fla.; Helen Back Café on Okaloosa Island in Fort Walton Beach; Honda Yamaha of Fort Walton Beach, and Scully’s on the Bayou in Shalimar, Fla. In addition to cash prizes for the first, second, third and last-place poker hands, participants will be able to buy tickets for a raffle that features several big-ticket items, including a week in Key Largo, Harley-Davidson leather jackets, a Harley-Davison Helmet, an HJC Helmet, ladies’ Harley-Davidson wind jackets and many more. Entry fee is $20 per rider if registered before Oct. 6. Participants can register online at www.afenlistedwidows.org. After Oct. 6, registration goes up to $25 per rider. Sponsors are also needed. Sponsorships are available for as little as $300, and include many benefits to the sponsors, such as free advertising and recognition.
