I realize this has been posted somewhere in another forum but I have a question, I'm 58 and real close to 59 I recently took the BRC and the first half day on the bike felt uncomfortable second half of the day felt much better in second and third gear(didn't care for first gear), real difficulty in first gear attempting to make a u-turn. Sunday totally fell apart and did not even attempt to try the assessment test, passed written test with flying colors and got a beginer license from the state. After this experience I think maybe I should consider a Trike any suggestions. Thanks

The motorcycle has several states. Crawling behavior, 2-10 mph behavior, and the rest. Of these, Crawling is the most awkward. It wants you to do things that you "know" are wrong. You have to shift your weight to the outside....Your brain knows you're just gong to fall over (it never rode before). If you want to ride, you have to convince your brain that you are not in fact insane. This would mean range time (with a SMALL bike). Small bikes forgive mistakes on the part of their rider. Large bikes just pimp slap.

Hey Swampfox1949 Don't get discouraged,as previously posted training your mind to do things out of the ordinary takes time and repetition. Three days (with probably only a few hours of total riding time) is not enough to get familiar with and comfortable on a bike. Since you have your learners permit, I would suggest you either rent or borrow a small bike and practice in a parking lot. You can set up a mini course using small traffic cones or even tennis balls cut in half. Practice the manuevers over and over, especially those that gave you the most problems in the course. You will be suprised at how quickly you gain confidence especially since you get to set the pace. You still have the option of buying a trike but they come withtheir own set of issues that have to be learned before you would be able to safely operate on public roads.Good luck!!
