I purchased a 07 Vulcan 900 classic several months ago and have already had the valves adjusted at 2000 miles and now at 4700 miles am hearing excessive valve noise again. Has anyone experienced similar problems with this unit.

That's one thing you can depend on. V-twin motors are noisy. People who are bothered by it install aftermarket exhaust systems, so they can't hear all the racket.
If you want a quiet engine, you have to buy one made to close tolerances. If the operators manual says you can use anything heavier than 10W30 oil in it, it's guaranteed to be made to loose tolerances.

I too just purchased an 07 Vulcan 900 classic. It's brand new and I've put 400 miles on it so far. There is a noticeable tick when you back off the throttle, not sure if yours does the same. From what I've read, it's when you don't hear it that you should be worried. That the tolerances tighten up over time and THAT is what needs to be adjusted. I'm a newbie, so maybe someone could clarify if I've mispoken.

I have 15000 miles on mine and the ticking drives me nuts...I think something is wrong with it and don't want to hurt the engine. 4 years later it still does it.
Do I need a valve adjustment?

I have an 08 Yamaha v-star 1300 touring. They call for a valve adj. every couple thousand miles. At 17,000 mine were beginning to tick some, so I did the exaust myself for the first time.I set them as the manufacturer recommended. It did the trick. They quieted down nice. Now I am beginning to hear the intakes when i decelerate. The bike has 25,000 miles on it now.I will adjust the intake valves and i should not hear any ticking till I am close to 50,000. I try to do my own work when possible, then I know its done RIGHT. I talked to a few tecks and they told me there is no need to adj valves every 2,000 miles if they aren't noisy. I hope this helped you. I hope you don't have one of these teck who takes the money and does nada. Good luck with the next valve adj.

I had the 800, and yes, initially, I had a couple of valve adjusts as everything settles in, but, then it slows down. I think I had 500, 3000, and then I was good to almost 15k. I think I had it done again at about 32k. You can hear when it needs it. So can any mechanic that isn't playing Pink Floyd "Money".

Just got my Vulcan 900 and there's that tick! Drives me crazy thinking something is wrong but this was brand new out of the box so i'm thinking its normal.

Actually 07 Vulcan 900 classic is not bad, it may be there is problem just because of not proper maintenance, like proper oiling, service
