I Have a honda 750 shadow ace.Thinking of getting a 1300 Honda or Yamaha.I ride to work 60 miles round trip. How much am I going to gain with the bigger bike if at all.I really like the Ace-do I really need a bigger bike?I ride 2 up sometimes with my wife, bike does get small 2 up.I like the shaft drive of the Honda, but like the fuel injection of the Yamaha. At 6'2" the ace seems small. The Yamaha V-Star seems bigger than the Honda VTX.Some help please.

Unless you're bottoming out the suspension with two up, the 750 should be plenty of bike for local riding, even with a passenger. The only real difference, other than the suspension capacity, will be the way you use the transmission.
On the other hand, if you were planning on taking a long trip, riding two up, I'd say you and your passenger probably would enjoy it a lot more with a heavier bike. That's the main reason I traded up from the VN800 I've been riding for the last 4 years, to a VT1100, the heavier bike just soaks up the highway bumps better. That wasn't a factor as long as I was just riding locally.

i too own a honda 750 shadow ace. this bike is reliable and even though less cc than the harley 883, nobody ever makes fun of it for being underpowered and in my opinion and probably the many people who look at this bike while riding it...it is one of the most beautiful cruisers.... that being said; i rode mine for 5years and was gonna upgrade to the vtx 1300 but the shaft looked ugly on it. so then the kawi 900 came out with belt drive and i was gonna plunk down the cash for that one. then lo and behold vstar announced a belt drive 1300,so last summer i read the reviews on the vstar and in september of 2007 i purchased a blue one. the non tourer version. i love this bike. i've gone long trips and short trips with this bike. i actually had to buy a bigger bike because i am having carpal tunnel like pain in my wrist and while the shadow can average 70 all day comfortably, my wrist was taking a beating from the w.o.t. position. on the vstar i can do 65 in fourth gear and my wrist is hardly bent. and fifth gear is like overdrive on the vstar. i still love my little ace and will never sell it. but the bigger ride is more comfortable even if you don't go two up. good luck , rick

I have a Honda VT 750 and I smoke Harley's 883's. I put on a Mustang seat (Wide) and it made all the difference in the world. I weigh 190 lb and my girl 110 lb and the bike moves out just find. We stay under warp 3. The max weight is 366 lb. So if you have to hall bigger a** , get a bigger bike
