Like many of you I have cracks in the hubs of my 2005 Suzuki C50.Suzuki doesn't think there is a problem.Contact Vechile Safety HotLine at 1-888-327-4236,enter a complaint with them about cracks in c50 hubs. They will then contact Suzuki about problem and maybe get a recall issused. The more of us to do this the better chance Suzuki will do the right thing and repair the problem before anyone gets hurt.

HI I have an 05 C50T. The front hub has a lot of casting lines. I checked mine out.Cat has a two part spray compound that IDs cracks. The hub of mine does not have any cracks. It does have casting lines all over the thing and look like cracks. I have over 16,800 miles on the bike and just changed the tires. While I had them off I rechecked the casting lines just to make sure that there were no cracks. There was not If you really think that you have cracks in the front hub YOU should not ride the bike. IF the hub goes there you go. I have read several things about this front hub. The only thing I can find is that Suzuki did a very poor job of finishing the hub. The only recall I have heard of is the rerouting of the wiring harness under the fuel tank and the key sw. There was a problem with the harness rubbing on the frame and shorting out. The short burnt the ignition sw up. This was only on 05 and 06 models of the ( VL 800) C50,s hope this helps scruffy..

HI. Texas ; The hub that every one seems to be talking about is the front hub of the bike. If you look at it very close you will see lines on the hub. These look like cracks they are not. They are just casting lines. You can feel that they are raised and not a seperation of the material. Suzuki just did a very poor job of finishing the hub. scruffy

Sorry, but I disagree I have an 06 c50 that I bought new, its a great bike except for the front and rear hubs both cracking. THEY ARE CRACKS FOR SURE. I have had several great bike mechanics (non suzuki ones) verify this. Suzuki does not want to cover this by warranty and I paid extra for the extended 3 year warranty. They also say they have never seen this before, but just read what the people on this forum are saying, Im not alone. I love my c50 but if Suzuki does not make this right its going to be Honda, Yamaha, or Kawasaki for me soon.

Scruffy, you might want to send a full company name, or a link for the test kit. It might make people breathe easier.
And, yeah, on a 800cc bike, price point induces some comprimises
Poor man's 1st test is to tap on the spokes (gently) and listen for the ring. If it's truly cracked, it will end up being a dull thud. I wouldn't use the results as final, but, it will give you a direction to look.

I also have an 05 C50 Thought I had bad hubs but after close inspection the are casting lines. If you think they are cracks the local welding supply has a die pen test they sell that is easy to do. I have been in the welding and inspection profesion for over 30 years and after reading these post and inspecting my C50 I agree with Scruffy just casting lines. If they were cracks I think they would expand and colect dust and dirt that would continue to show signs of mud after washing with water.I hope this gives you another way to test for cracks or casting lines.
