I have a 2005 Honda VTX 1300R with the stock seat and am looking to replace it. I have a 65-70 (highway) mile commute each way and need my posterior region to enjoy the ride as much as the rest of me does .
I am a big rider at 6'4", 275 lbs. As such, I am looking at the Ultimate Bigboy seat as a competitor to the Mustang Wide Vintage Touring seat (Ultimate has a great tag-line: "It feels like your butt has gone to heaven"; I am wondering if anyone has tested that theory). In either case, I plan on including a driver backrest in the mix (I had lumbar surgery a few years ago and the extra support will be welcomed).
I have done some research and find that the Mustang seat is recommended amongst those sites that offer evaluations, yet I cannot find any sites that offer an evaluation of Ultimate seats (http://www.ultimateseats.ca). Setting aside comfort and discussing price for a moment, I found the Mustang three-piece for a total of $600 whereas the Ultimate BB three-piece lists for $725, and that does not include shipping (as does the $600 for the Mustang trio). Thus, Mustang has the edge on price.
Has anyone evaluated the Ultimate Bigboy? Any notes on how the two seats match up?

I don't know if you have purchased you seat yet but I too am looking for a new seat and have compared the mustang and ultimate. I have been able to find two comparisons on line and both have been in favor of the ultimate. I have also been on the national vstar forum page and the rave about the ulitmate. I am going to purchase one in the next two weeks and will give you a update if you still need one. Rotti

I don't know about the ultimate, but I put a mustang seat on my Honda Shadow and love it. The main reason for the seat change was for my wife, she could only last about 20 minutes on the stock seat. On the Mustang seat she can ride as long as I can.

You should look at the Russell Day Long seats. They are made for the individual rider and/or passenger and they are in the same price range.

I tried the ultimate seat, before I went all out and had it customized. For me the seat wasn't enough of an improvement over the stock seat to justify change, I returned it for a refund. The next seat to try was a Mustang which for me and my rider is a great improvement.
Each seat is a personnel feel not something you can determine from the web. I checked the company web sites and found the return policy first.
I tried a Gel pad first and found no real improvement.

I purchased a 2006 Yamaha Royal Star Tour Deluxe about one month ago. The previous owner had purchased a Mustang seat with drivers backrest. I rode with the Mustang seat on for the first 150 miles and didn't like it. I am 6'3" and 210Lbs. I thought the drivers backrest pushed me forward in the seat. I put on the stock seat 300 miles ago and like the way it fits me. I have more leg room. I would like to hear more feed back on the Ultimate seats along with the height of the riders. I think that I will be selling my Mustang seat soon.

I just bought a Honda VT750 and like the bike. BUT my butt goes to sleep on long rides. I tried the gelfoam and the sheepskin. I think I'm 1' too tall and the bike is 1" too small. I seem to be jammed to the back of the seat where it contours up. I just came off a 250 mile run and I don't know weather to get a new seat or a bigger bike. I'm average built 6' 195 lb. I'm also looking at the Lindby highbars Multibar, but read that they interfere with the shifter and the brake. Does anyone have any experiences with these products for this bike?

I just replaced my stock seat on my Honda VT 750. I tried the gel/foam (witch is for sale) and the sheepskin. After spending $150.00 trying them I went to a Mustang wide seat. The Mustang seat makes a big difference, Much better.

All seats are generic. They're just aimed at different areas of the market. Personally, I've always found the stock seat to be a better fit than any of the aftermarket seats.
The only way I've ever been able to improve on the fit of a stock seat was when I went to a custom seat maker and had a seat made from a mold of my butt.
regards, Joe

Check out my reply on another thread. PLEASE go to MeanCityCycles.com. Allen uses your seat frame and completely remakes it using your inseam measurement, etc., using memory foam, and I can't tell you adequatly how comfortable it is. My wife/pasenger is completely blown away with hers!

For a seat custom-made to your sixe, weight, inseam, preferences, etc., at a fraction of the cost of Corbin or Mustang go to MeanCityCycles.com. The site explains options and you can call the owner, Allen with questions. He made seats for my wife, passenger, and myself, that are extremely comfortable. I would never go anywhere else.

I did not like the seat on my Yamaha. I asked around to some guys I know that put some serious mileage on each year. Unanimously, they all said Corbin. I got mine awhile back and it is an amazing difference. They ask your height and weight when you order, so there must be some difference between someone 6'4" & 275 lbs and someone like me 5'8" and 160. Look into these before you order.
