I am 6' and weigh in at 300lbs. I thought the c50 would be a good bike for shorter rides < 2hrs. I currently ride an 84 magna 700 and it works fine for most riding and has plenty of power it just runs higher on the tac for highway riding and the pitch anoys me. I have sat on the c50 and almost got it but decided to keep the magna then get somthing bigger for longer rides and dubble up riding with my wife.

I'm not as big as you guys, but pretty close! (6'1" - 260) I've returned to riding after a 20 year layoff. I recently purchased a 02 Yamaha Roadstar 1600. I thought it might be too much bike, but haven't found that to be the case! It has plenty of power, even when I'm riding with my wife (140 pounds). I wouldn't always recommend a large bike for new riders, but if you plan to ride 2 up, then the investment is worth the money. Or course, I'd suggest getting real comfortable riding solo first!
Enjoy the ride!

When I started riding, I was 6'0, 230 lb, weight training 2x a week (no... in good shape, I would have been 205). I started out on a Kawi Drifter 800. It was a little big to start. On the flip side, I ended up riding the bike for 6 years and 37,000 miles, and used it to do a 2 week trip in 2006 that hit a lot of the eastern states, from Mass, and NY, down to N. Carolina, and just about every state in between.
Related only in the fact that if you find the right bike, you tend to keep it: I used to know a guy who was the original owner of a '46 Vellocette (British) thumper(maybe 500cc). He had pictures of his 2004 trip to British Columbia (he's in Mass.). It's one of those motorized bicycle rigs, with spring seat, flip down centerstand, won't do more than 50mph. He had at least 300,000 on it... I suspect he missed a lot of flips on the odometer (only went to 10k).
