I'm a fairly new rider (6 weeks, 600 miles) and need some advice. I have an 06 Suzuki Boulevard S40. It is exactly what I need at this time: small, simple, and paid for.
I want to replace the stock grips and foot pegs with something that will reduce vibration, but I don't know what -really- works.
The right footpeg vibrates horribly between (only) 60 and 65mph, the left one never vibrates. I did lay the bike down once (before I took a rider's course!), on the *left side, and bent the *left peg. Don't know if this is a contributing factor for the *right peg.
The stock grips are fairly "cushy" but my hands go numb on really long rides. My bike is in very good shape and the vibration is not excessive, but enough that I want to be more comfortable. I've looked at a lot of online products ; weighted end-caps, special grips like these, and I still don't know what might be the right choice. http://www.chromeworld.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=catalog.prodInfo&productID=837&categoryID=1347
What would you all recommend based on your experience?

Ahh, the S40. My first bike. To start with the bike is light so it's prone to vibrations of sorts from either the engine or the road. You really won't get rid of the vibrations but you can change them by making things heavier so they vibrate at lower frequencies. Kuryakyn ISO grips are fairly beefy with heavy rubber lugs and may help out since they're heavier than the stock rubber. Also there's a product called a bar snake that you slide inside your handlebars to make them heavier and vibrate less. I haven't used the snake before but you may need to do more than one thing to get it the way you want it. If you aren't already wearing riding gloves you could look for some with gel inserts in the palm and fingers. They'll also help a bit. You could also ask the users at volusiariders.com for tips from their experiences.
Good luck.

I did not think of getting good gel gloves - but now that seems terribly obvious! I'll definitely try that before I spend any money on anything that goes on the bike permanently.

HI; I had to change the position of the bars. I lossened the clamping bolts and moved the bar up just about 1in. This made all the difference in the way my hands felt after a long ride. I don,t lean forward as much anymore. scruffy...
