I'm debating on buying the Kawasaki 900lt or the Kawasaki 1500. I'm 5'10 and about 175lbs and in pretty good shape, I own a 1971 Honda CB450 so I'm really looking to take a jump here. I'm just wondering is the extra 600cc worth the extra $2000 it will cost me to get the 1500 and then put saddlebags, rear back rest and the windshield on it.

http://www.kawasakimotorcycle.org/forum/kawasaki-cruisers/ Wonderful forum there, good people, and that question was just asked recently by a member there. I personally own a Kawasaki VN900C. I love this bike, but as they say "there is no replacement for displacement". I sometimes wish I had gone bigger, but I got what I could afford at the time.

the title of the thread is:
from 900 to 1500 pro's & cons
hope this helps. for what it's worth, i have a 900 classic and love it, not to big and not to small. if you do a lot of highway driving i might lean towards the larger bike, but if it's just around town and on limited access roads (55mph or less) go with 900.

I'm mostly going to do back road riding but in my commute to work I eventually have to get on the highway for a work. How is the 900 when riding on the highway?

I ride an 08 Vulcan 900 Custom and often ride between Evergreen, CO and the Denver Metro area on I-70. Overall it is quite stable on the highway, but in very stiff wind, I sometimes wish I had gone larger. But, I should note that in the Colorado high country and foothills, we get incredible wind gusts. On mild days, it is quite comfortable on the highway. I also have the Kawasaki touring windscreen which works quite well and Cobra Speedster Short pipes, so the cars and trucks can hear me coming! If I had the money, I would trade for a 07/08 Mean Streak SE, but that is just my ego getting the best of me. Good luck in either way you go.
