My front tire is too narrow for touring. My sporty has power and speed, bags and ready for the open road. But that front tire scares me.
How can I get a wider front tire is my ultimate goal. But how is the question. Also, is there any safety or ride affects that I should know.
Anybody have experience with this? thx

I just completed a wideglide conversion. I bought the wide trees and then i bought a used set of Road king rims and tires off of craigslist. I keept the 39mm legs and had the bearing removed from the rims and had 3/4 inch bearings put in. After everything was done, I spent approximately $700.00. The bike looks great and rides better than ever. less vibration with the fat 16 inch rims and tires. I will get some pic soon.

I ordered them from *** cycle, wideglide conversion. I keep the orginal legs and bought Road king rims and tires. Had the one inch bearings knocked out and replaced with 3/4 inch bearings. Had to order a wideglide front axle 3/4 by 11.5 inch. Everything fit the first time I put it together. you will be able to reuse the axle spacers. I had to put 1/8 inch spacer behind the rear wheel and pully to line up properly and keep from hitting the tire. I just bought a fat boy front fender to put on. 1. page728 220-342 $79.00 wideglide axle 2. page760 702-094 $349.99 Triple trees 3. page635 Belt pully spacer. you need to check for yourself on what size to get. I have an 03 so you may have some differences. I also have 39 mm legs. yours may be larger. now for what you want to know! my bike runs great and is smoother. I can see out the rear view mirrors with out leting of the gas. it is let spartan and smoother ride with the larger tires. I have gotten it up to 90mph just to see how it would react and it felt fine. I will attempt to send pics. Wag
