I'm looking for my first bike also, but i'm almost 5 feet tall and around 230. I would like the availability to ride highways, not just town driving. Since I can't test drive, what do you suggest?

Step 1: contact your local MSF course. They usually have at least 1 bike for short riders. If you contact them, they will want to know your inseam to help with the fit.
If you decide you like riding, you could even ride a goldwing (pretty high seat). I saw a kit for the bike that has 2 side wheels come down at less than 5 mph. And, once you take off, they retract. Here's a website with seat heights . It may give you a starting point. http://www.totalmotorcycle.com/school-SectionTwoB.htm

Mommabird:
frbock gives some good advice. The other is to simply work with your local area dealers. Research bikes with the lowest seat height and then have dealers show those bikes to you. You will also find that many dealerships have at least one woman on their sales staff....insit on working with another woman as she should better be able to identify with your particular needs and the concerns of women when it comes to bikes.
Hope that helps a bit...and make sure you turn your search for the right bike into a fun experience.

I am 5'1", barely. I have '99 Suzuki Savage LS650. I can flat foot easily on it. You can do a search for short motorcycle riders, seat heights, etc. and find a lot of info that might help you decided.

Thank you. I ended up getting the v star 650. My only worry is it has foot rests so I'll have to learn to ride with my legs out, so I'm sure I will get used to it and if not, I'll have the pegs installed. Thanks again for replying
