Hello, I brought a new 2008 suzuki boulevard m50. I'm 600 miles into the break-in on the motor and noticed a very slight ticking. The dealer mechanic said at 750-1000 miles the valves need to be checked and may need adjusting. But I was also told by other riders that the slight ticking was normal even if they are within specs. Is this normal or not? Thanks

HI I have a 05 C50T with 16,800+ miles . YES the engine makes noise. This is normal. You should check the valves any time after 1000-1500 miles. You can save yourself a lot of *** if you do it The oil change takes about 10 min. The valve adjust takes between 2 and 4 hrs. Just a little longer with beer This bike is very easy to work on. Just keep in mind with this engine a noisey engine is a happy engine. This engine has solid lifters this is why they need adjusted now and then. I do all the work on this bike as the dealership here is not very bright.GOOD riding PM me if you have any ???..scruffy OH check out Volusia riders.com this is a great site for this bike. They have parts and lots of how to stuff..

Hi you may well get a lot of answers on this subject but here it is ...My bike and many other Suzuki bikes have done the same ..
MY bike did the same a slight tick when new but as it did more miles it turned into a loud annoying tick. and very loud when first started, Suzuki NZ fobbed me off with Valve clearances but it was not this after a long fiddle and a week later it was the tappet lifters making the noise these were changed and my bike has never made the ticking nor clacking noises again, a lot of Suzukies do it most owners just do not investigate the noise as they are none the wiser, nor mechanicaly minded, take care, and do not take NO for an answer...
