I am looking into getting a new bike here at some point in time and I can't decide what I want. I like both the Yamaha Roadliner and the Victory Kingpin. I have been reading about both and I am just torn between the two. I like the engine size on the liner but I like the 6 speed of the Vic.......

Greetings: I can't speak for the liner, but I can speak for the Kingpin. I purchased mine new about a year ago and it hasn't been in the shop for anything except the normal PM, oil changes, etc. I truly believe what they say about "Victory's do not break, period. The cost of owning a Victory is very low and MAY be the lowest of any street or touring bike out there. I'm convinced of that. Again, I can speak for the liner but you should at least give the KP a test drive and see if that doesn't help with the decision making process. The HP and the torque can be felt at any RPM and it does get up and go. Good Luck, and ride safe, mapmaker2

I just went thru a 3 month search for the perfect cruiser and after riding the Kingpin, Roadking, Raider, Vulcan 2000, Stratoliner, Triumph America, Roadstar and even a Vision. I picked the Stratoliner because of the power and the way it rides. There is not a better deal on a full size cruiser than the roadliner-stratoliner. You can pick one up for under $10k if you get a new 06 or 07. Good luck and you could not go wrong with either bike but I believe the Victory is more of a compromise and has less power and a smaller engine.

I'd pick the Stratoliner. Twin engine balancers, EXUP valve, 1854cc (113ci) engine, hydralic brakes and clutch, handles like a sport bike, and I averaged 45 mpg on my trip from Ohio to Wyoming. Never had any problems and, excluding crotch rockets, nothing has beaten me. Going out to Wyoming, I rode across South Dakota on I-90 at 80 mph in 116 degree heat. The engine never missed a beat. Riding at 2,000 feet or 14,000 feet across the mountains the bike always seemed to have the same power. Coming back from Wyoming, I rode 640 miles the first day and 620 miles the second. I could have ridden further. I've been riding for 45 years and have ridden just about everything on the market. Nothing beats the Stratoliner.

Looks like you have narrowed your search down to a couple of excellent , comparable motorcycles . Only way to pick the one for you is to test ride them . I'd say you would do yourself an injustice to pick one of these off spec's alone. Good luck.

I have to agree with osun061. Along with keeping in mind the comments from owners, you should test ride the bike before making your decision. Everyone has differnet needs when it comes to riding. Some just ride around town, some take short rides into the country, and some need a bike for long distance riding. I like Yamaha's saying, "it's your bike, you make it your own".

Thanks for all the advice. I keep looking at the two and I just go back and fourth. I keep watching for deals though and they always seem to be the yamaha's that have the best bang for the buck.

I have had a kingpin for a year now, have not had any problems at all. Rode it on a saddle sore 1000 in less then 16 hours didnt miss a beat. Im sure the roadliner is a great bike also but things like pushrods (to harley like)and the exup turned me off (cause if you change your exhaust you loose it)and no 6 speed. Also I hate looking down on gages on the tank. The kingpin handles as well as any crusier out there has only a single front disk but its a brembo with steel braided lines, Marzzochi inverted cartridge fork, fox rear shock, really good componets are used on it. Im somewhat biased since I own one so like others have said the best thing to do is ride both, good luck.
