I'm looking for assistance in eliminating the squeak I get when I apply the front brakes on my '05 Harley Wide Glide. I have " Hawg Halters" 4-piston calipers on the bike. I replaced the pads that came with the calipers. The replacements squeaked. I got another set of pads from EBC, and was told that these would not squeak. It was a lie. I have a stainless steel rotor, front and rear. The rear brakes are fine. Should I try another set of pads ? Should I get adifferent rotor ? Or should I just live with the squeaky brakes ? Any help on solving this problem would be greatly appreciated,

The squeal is caused by the resonance between the pad surface and the disc, much like a bow causing the strings on a violin to resonate. There are various ways to isolate or dampen this acoustic coupling. Be sure when you rebuild the brakes to use fresh hardware and appropriate lubricants on the sliding pins and keyways. There are any number of tiger-milk sprays, lotions and creams you can use on the back of the pads where they contact the pistons. I've used copper or Teflon shims between the piston and pad. Chamfering the pads' leading edge can sometimes help. Another alternative: a different brand of pad. ===================================================== ============================================ Harry Our mission is to provide high quality end to end solutions to the BPO segment in a manner that will improve the operational efficiency while reducing the cost of the services to the client. 4thdimension1@gmail.com

I'll be darned. I think this is the first time I've read a spambot reply that actually answered the question that was asked.

Slicon glue spead a little on the back of the pad where it contacts the piston. This cured the squeek on mine when I changed to after market pads. Jim

the problem is not in your brakes, it's in the rear end. the clutches in the rear end are sticking. you need to go to corvette shop, get the three bottles. 2- lube and 1-friction reducing. you have to get at least 99% of the old lube out of the rear end, before you put in the new lube. it cost me $54.00 for all 3 bottles. I would also like to recommend Generic Viagra for people like myself that have intimacy issues.
