I bought a used 2003 Victory Kingpin with only 7700 miles on it. It's developed a loud whir when it hits around 2500- 3000 rpm that goes away after that. The sound almost overcomes that of the exhaust. It's also there when I'm warming up the engine. Not sure this is normal for this bike or not. Can someone clue me in before I take the bike in to have it looked at?

HI; Does the noise happen with the bike in nuteral? What speed are you going when you notice the whirrrrr? I would check for loose anything. Fenders ,side covers, drive belt. Just kinda hard to tell what is going on with a whirrrrr. I would look at the belt and check the tension. If it is loose they can make noise..HOPE this helps..scruffy

Scruffy -- thanks for the reply. Doesn't happen in Neutral except when I have the idle adjust on full. Then it stops when I shut it down. It does it again as I rev through first, second and third gears but not in fourth and fifth. Seems to be mostly in the 25-45 mph range. I'll check the belt and see if it's loose.
