Any Stratoliner owners out there have issues with excessive heat coming off the engine? I am looking at buying one and was curious. I see a lot of HD owners complaning about heat and they are running 1584 cc's.

I don't have a Strat, but I have a RoadStar 1700 and I don't have a problem with engine heat. It doesn't give off any more heat than my three previous Viragos.

Maybe it is a Harley thing...

I have had a Stratoliner for almost two years. I have put over 10,000 miles on the bike including a warm weather trip to Daytona Florida and have never noticed any excessive engine heat.

That's fairly comforting because I live in Florida...

I have a Stratoliner and the engine heat is minimal. My Royalstar put off alot more heat. When the fan went off it would feel like someone turned the heat on and that was during 90 degree days. The strat is not a hot bike but I don't think Harleys are that bad either. I have owned a Roadking and a Sporster in the past.

Never had either, but am looking at both for my next purchase. Read some reviews on both of them and it seems that the "negative" comment I find is the heat of the HD's.

I have a 2006 Stratoliner S with 27,000 miles on it. I rode to Wyoming in 2006 and while traveling across South Dakota on I-90 at 80 mph, the air temperature was 116 F. I had absolutely no problem with engine heat and have never felt a lot of engine heat for the 27,000 miles I have rode the bike. The only problem I had in South Dakota was my finger tips blistering from the heat coming off the highway. You will never be unhappy with your Strat. I just love mine and will buy another when the time comes. As far as I'm concerned, it's the best cruiser on the market. It handles like a sport bike and has unlimited power. I had the bike up to 130 and it was still climbing when my T-Bag on the passenger seat caused the bike to start buffeting. I had to shut her down. The bike with the windshield and factory bags were tested in a wind-tunnel during the design. The bike does not buffet when riding behind large trucks and passing them. This is a "biker's" bike. Good luck with your new Strat.
