New to the bike world, at least for the past 30 yrs.  Looking at the Suzuki, Kawasaki (fuel injected) mid range cruisers vs. Yamaha Star (Carburetor).  I live near 6,000ft. above sea level.  Will probably be going over mountain passes around 10 - 12,000 ft.

Any one have comment about whether the carburetor machines will give me problems or adversely affect performance ?????

Thanks,
Tim

Sounds like you are out here in the Sierra's...

The c-50 hasn't had any troubles in the Sierra passes.  I haven't gone over Donner pass though and that is a pass at highway speeds.  Usually I'm on the narrower and slower passes.  The bike seems to want to accelerate at 10k feet and I bet it wouldn't have problems doing 70-80 mph at 10k feet.

Definitely stick with the fuel injection. Makes life sooooooo much easier  Take a look at the Yamaha (Star)V-Star 1300. It has fuel injection, and appears to be the best mid-sized metric bike on the market. Trust me...fuel injection is much less of a hassle, and the bike will run better in any condition it faces.
