I have the same dilema that all new riders seem to have. Which one to get. I have just gotten back from a visit to WOW in Marietta, Ga. I went to feel the bikes out and view them. I looked at Suzuki C50t and C90t, Kawasaki 900, and a couple of Honda 750's. I really like the feel of the C50, but the C90 didn't really feel all that heavier. I am going to use the bike for work, and for weekend cruising with the wife. I am around 6', 230 lbs, and the wife is around 120. Is the C50 got enough power for the two of us, and for going up hills. We live in central Al. and we would be going up to north Ga., and into Tenn. I really don't think that the Honda will do the job. I would appreciate any input you might be able to give an old man.

After settling for smaller bikes in the past I have decided the bigger the better. Handling is typically better on the bigger bike also.

Bike to start with and wife on back are 2 separate issues. Learning is easier and much faster on a smaller bike. Riding with a wife, and no divorce requires a larger bike. Until you can handle wind gusts from the side at about 15 mph without swinging a lane or so, don't take the wife. A person shifting around to get comfortable can do the same level of shift to the bike as that kind of gust.
And, worse, they ALWAYS get uncomfortable right in the middle of a turn.
Plan for the worst, hope for the best.

I agree about driving without the wife for the first month or two, at least. If I don't feel comfortable, she ain't getting on. I am thinking about the C50, mainly because of the positive feed back on the forum. I haven't seen much on the C90 though. I just wonder if it would be worth the extra 1,200 to go ahead and get the C90.

The c90 is a beautiful bike. The parents of a mechanic at a local dealer own one and love it. They just came back from a week long tour in Oregon. I believe the gas tank is a little smaller and I bet that gas mileage is a little lower.
You may want to go with the bigger bike if you are looking at cruising.
Have fun...

I've had a LC1500 since 2002 and have 28000 miles on it. I looked at lots of bikes also and at the time Suzuki was offering the best incentives. I haven't regretted buying it. I tried out the Volusia which is now the C50. It was very nice and is rated very well in the size range. I like the bigger engine and the weight difference is minimal. Try them both, it's alot of bang for the buck.

I got a c50t not quite a year ago and love it. The wife loves to ride with me a the bike has plenty of power with the both of us on it. I have sat on the c90t and there is quite a bit of a different feel to it. For a guy my size 5'10 210 pounds the feel of the smaller bike is better, but ride them all and go with the one you like best. Happy riding.

I'm 6"2 and feel like a giant on most bikes. I would never part with my Valkyrie. I'm getting ready to buy another one in case I ever wear out my current ride. You can find low mileage examples starting about $6500.
Honda please bring back the valk!

I'm on this trip too.
Looking to buy a first bike, used, for... um... tax reasons. ![]()
I'm 6'1", 250 pounds, and I've been riding a 250 Kyocera scooter around Miami for a while... now it's time to get a real bike and hit the road across America.
I'll be bringing a pack with me and plan on riding a lot every day. Don't care about brand. Care very much about power, comfort, and low likelihood of ending up a stain on the highway.
I like what I've heard about the Shadow and the c50t, but I'm worried about those bikes not being big enough.
