while driving at night on my 2006 stratoliner i found what i thinh is the only flaw. i can't see thru the windshield becouse if the blinding reflectin from the speedometer.it blocks the upper part of the windshield
(the factory windscreen)so you can't see thru it.
i called yamaha customer service ir should i say customer i don't care and was told nothinng they can do ut offerd the following
A- cover the speedometer so nothing reflects
B- turn the light to the speedometer down (so you can't see)
C-take of the windscreen(i have a stratoliner not a roadliner)
D-cut the windscreen down
E-but the shorter windscreen

This should not be the answer and don't care attude
when you call the factory for help.
thanks

I asked a factory rep at the International Motorcycle show about a visor for the speedometer to eliminate the glare. He said that Yamaha was working on one and it should be out shortly. Well, that was two years ago. I took some cardboard and cut my own. I had to play with the angle and height to eliminate the glare. After I had the right angle and height, I used the cardboard as a pattern to cut out a piece of tin. I then had the tin chromed. I got some two-sided tape to hold it in place. If you don't want to go to all this work and expense, you can cut the cardboard and only use it at night. I guess it all depend on how much night riding you do.

I'm not sure if this'd work, but have you considered those films you can put over lcd screens and monitors to reduce glare/other people seeing it but you, and cutting it to fit the spedometer.

I have an 08 Stratoliner with the same problem. Yamaha doesn't seem interested so I filed a safety hazard complaint with the NHTSA on 1-29 and haven't heard back from them yet.  In the meantime, I cut the bill off of a baseball cap and put velcro on it and stick it above the speedo at night and it works pretty well.

I am 5' 10'' and had the same problem on the used 06 Stratoliner that I brought in May of last year.  I took the windshield to my local glass shop and had them remove the top three inches of the windshield--end of problem.  It cost $75 here in Virginia.

I too noticed a very bad reflection so I dimmed the speedo, clock, gas gauge, and tach(I think there are two or three separate backlights and five dimmer settings.I dimmed down to the lowest setting and didn't have any trouble seeing gauges when it's dark. There still is a little reflection but it's tolerable.I replaced the stock windshield (not for this reason though)because it was too tall(and narrow)with a Rifle Faring replacement shield(three inches shorter and three inches wider)that provided more wind protection(a little less buffeting and easier to see over). This replacement shield also reduced the reflection from guages,I think because the stock one is narrower and more curved(at least in a tighter radius)which was an unexpected plus.Good luck all you guys with your solutions. It's still an awesome bike,
Luke

Luke, you are right on with this..Dimming all instrument lights helps, and windshields are made to be looked OVER,not through..Many don't know this..I recently got my Liner, and stock windshield does suck..Randy

I have an '06 Stratoliner and love it.  The night reflection is in the bottom of the windshield and doesn't bother me and I just look over the top of the windshield, so it's height is perfect for me.  The glare that bothers me is from the chrome trim down the middle of the tank on a very sunny day.  I have thought the dark trim on the Venture not being too cool, but I bet it doesn't cast any glare.  So I never hit the road without sun glasses.
