my 1998 1500 suzuki has a problem in heavy slow traffic. the clutchs hyds get hot and the clutch goes away. i found that the line passes over the heads, where all the heat goes. i plan to reroute the line below the engine along the frame to escape the heat...anyone else have this problem?

Hi; sounds like your on the right track. The hyd line should not be next to any heat. Once the fluid gets hot then it boils and you get nothing. Once it cools everything works. Does the clutch seem to slip before every thing gets hot and quits? If so you may need to replace the clutch disc's and plates. Have fun...scruffy

ok, pulled the hyd lines out and away frim the heads, they were almost touching, and rerouted them down along side the frame rails...lol, now just need to find heavy ,slow traffic to test it out....

Here's a couple of thoughts: 1) What color is the fluid in the glass. If it's beige, ignore the rest of this post 2) if it's caramel, you've got aged fluid, which has absorbed water (DOT4 does that). That reduces the vapor point of the fluid. 3) This is the worst case by far. Someone tried to replace your DOT4 with DOT5, which doesn't absorb water. It is heavier, and would pool at the bottom. Try draining the line... if it's clear like water you need to have the lines blown out, and refilled with DOT5. Don't go back.
If you don't have any of these problems... definately move the line. I don't recall it going that close to the heads on the few 1500's I've seen.
A small metal heat shield between the line and the heads may make a difference if you can't move it.
