I just bought my first bike. 2002 Honda Shadow Ace and when I got it home in the garage I was going over it again and this time when i went to check my clutch with shifting the gears I was getting stuck in either 1 or N and having the harding time getting back to N when it would shift. I know nothing of bikes, Yet but i know this is an unridable condition could use some help.

HI; Have you tried to change the engine oil? If it has been a while get it changed. Old oil will make the shift rail hard to rotate some times. You may try some penetrating oil around the shift shaft. There may be some dirt or corrosian build up between the case and the shaft. When you are trying to shift is the engine running? If not it can be hard to shift. How long has the bike been sitting? You may just need to give the shifter a couple of hard kiks... Hope this helped...scruffy

Ty for that Scruffy. I had the dealer send there Mech. out to look at the bike of i would have it parked in there front door and I would be there as well So the Mech that came by found out it was the cable it was not adjusted properly and was not not allowing the plate to shift on every use of the clutch. but he spoke of the oil and the posibility of crossion but found none. the bike was in storage all winter up here (WI) and is in excellent shape other than that miss adjustment. And so I have an idea next time if there is a problem I just signed up at for a bike/engine class class.
