Hi I posted in Repair and Maintenance, but saw this forum with no posts so thought perhaps this is more appropriate for my question. I need to replace the rear shoes on my 86 Shadow VT700C. I haven't been able to break the spindle nut loose even though I lifted the back end trying to do so. I am afraid to use any more force and break something, thinking that maybe I am just missing a lock pin or such sort. I appreciate any assistance. Thanks, Russ

Hi; Righty tighty lefty loosie??? Do you have access to a impact driver? The axle nuts have a thread lock on them. Lock tite. IF you don't have a air gun or a impact dr. you may be able to get it loose by putting pressure on the nut then hitting the socket with a hammer. The shock will break the nut loose. Hit the socket not the ratchet or breaker bar. Hope this helps..You also may need to heat the nut.The heat will melt the lock tite then the nut will come loose. Use a propane torch or oxy/acct be careful nut to discolor the nut. It may loose it's temper. Hope this helps... scruffy..
