My partner and I have booked our tickets to the USA from Darwin Australia for a three month tour following our noses in June/July/August 2008. It will be a fabulous trip and I have collected lots of great information about your very diverse country.

We would like to buy a cruiser and after our adventures sell it before we return home. I am having difficulties with getting reliable current information on the process of buying a motorbike if you are a tourist. Or even if this is possible.

I have heard about the rent and then buy back schemes but don't have any leads on this either. Would appreciate any help or direction on the subject.

Cheers
Elizabeth

HI; That sounds like fun.   The Harley dealer here has a rental, lease that I know about. I have had some friends take advantage of. I don't know if it is a Harley deal or just a local thing.  I will stop and ask them. Let you know tomorrow.. I am in Washington state.. What brand are you looking for or does it matter? I will call around and see if anyother dealer has a rental program / lease.. scruffy...
