I have a 2007 Kawasaki 900 Classic LT, and you just can't seem to start and go! I have to let it warm up for at least 5 mins. before I can take off.The revs are high when you first start it, then after about 5 mins., it quiets down and you can the go. If you try to start and go the bike spits and sputters and some times backfires. Even to stop the bike for 1 min then restart it I have to wait the 5 mins. Is there a cure for this? Has the bike gone through the brake-in period of about 600 mi. if not look at page 45 in your manual it talks about runing the engine for two or three minutes to give the motor time to get the oil in the vital engine parts. I have the 900 VN900B the LT might have a differant manual. I do not know if this will help if not I hope the bike is still under warranty. Good luck T.B.

HI; I have a 05 C50T and I have to wait about 3min. before I can just go. After the first start up  I don't have that happen. Once the engine cools down it starts all over again. I just put on my gear while I wait. I am not in that big of a rush anyway.. ..scruffy...

Ca. emissions may be part of the pain. I had the 800 (carb), and it took a couple minutes with the enricher on (choke for old school) to get it settled out. The bikes are set to run VERY lean, which messes up cold performance (too cold for the fuel to vaporize completely).

Not living in Ca (and no emissions test), I had the whole shebang adjusted to something real world useable after I had a new intake put on the bike. I suspect that since my mileage didn't go down, it really didn't affect the emissions much, but, it did make it more drivable.

In your case, I suspect you have a "enricher" knob. If you pull that a little when you start, it may settle things down enough for you to start riding. Just remember to push it back in once you are going, otherwise, fouled plugs, poor performance, etc.... I used to push it back in once I got one good acceleration on the bike... just enough to start warming the intake plenum.
