HI; I think you should call Honda and ask if they make smaller or bigger belt drives. One for the trany output and rear sprocket. That is how you would change the gear ratio. Most V twins are a little buzzy above 65mph. scruffy...

PITY Scott. If it was Belt or chain, you'd have a chance at a better ride.
I don't know of any sites that make gears for shaft drive. It changes the angle of the driveshaft depending on the number of sprockets on the final, just real messy.
While shaft is nice if you like the ratios it give you.. it does in turn give you the shaft if you don't

So, just to fill in the pieces: You likely have a 44 tooth rear sprocket. I saw countershaft, and read it as shaft and that was the only context that it made sense to me since you were talking about final drive ratios.
What you want is a 42 tooth rear sprocket, like this http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/HONDA-VT750-C-SPIRIT-QUALITY-REAR-SPROCKET-NEW_W0QQitemZ250185643965QQcmdZViewItem
It should pull your RPM down by close to 10%
