(first bike) I bought a Suzuki S40 (new) three days ago. I have only put 45miles on it.
Today, the front brake began to squeek. It's funcitoning fine but, obviously, the noise is bothersome.
Is this a normal growing pain or should I head straight to the shop?
thanks.

HI. I have a C50T 2005. The front brakes squeeeeeked for a few days. I had to do a couple of realy hard stops. Run the bike up to about 35-40 stop with the front as hard as you can without lock up. Do this 2 or 3 times. This will clean off dirt and oil residue from shiping. This will clean the rotor and also the pads. If you don't feel comfortable doing this there is a product called anit squeek you spray it on the rotor and drive apply the brakes a few times and no noise. Most any auto parts house should have it in stock. This is what the shops use and charge 50-75$$$ to fix the noise... You will like the bike you have bought.I have had now trouble with mine. I have 14,000 miles so far and love it. Have FUN riding ...scruffy..

Old rider fairly new bike 2005 S40 bought used with around 1000 miles now have around 5500 miles never had trouble with squeeky brake except now and then when dirty which I consider normal. I love the bike because of size handles great good power and light weight hope you enjoy yours, all the ones I ride with have larger bikes C50, harley's goldwings,& 2000 vulcan however i have noproblem keeping up. I have worred for 2 years about the noise & backfireing from this single cylindar but i guess it's ok. hopca1226

Something to consider is the rear edge of the brake pad is not beveled correctly and can cause squeeking and chatter. If it is new and not responding to your likes, take it back. It should clear up with a little use.
