Any help from fellow riders would be greatly appreciated!!
Im 6.4 tall, 245lbs, im looking for my first bike. I want a clean looking bike which I will fit in comfortably. AT the moment I like the looks of the 2002 Kawasaki Mean Streak 1500, or a 2003 honday VTX 1300cc. Can anyone tell me if they are a type of bike I should be looking at? or should I look at different models?
I sat on the 2002 Mean Streak today and it felt good, but I didnt get to ride it, nor have I ever riden a real motorcycle before so I dont know what a comfortable position would be for cruising with my buddy who puts 200 - 500ml a weekend. im thinking the mean streak with the forward front control kit?
What power of bike and what model will fit us tall guys? HELP

HI; For the very first bike I think you should stick with 750-900cc bikes. Honda Shadow 750 Suzuki C50 (805cc) Kawasaki 900. It not your weight it's your tall. The reason for these picks is you need to learn how to ride first. Buy used ride a smaller bike for about a year or so. Get some seat time and comfedence in the bike and yourself. The 1500 and 1300 are very good bikes. IF you take it slow for a while they should be a good pick also. Take the Motor cycle safty course. This will give you some good knowledge for a start. As for forward controls every make has them . Just have to fine the right catalog and order.. If you can test ride any of the bikes you want that would be great. There is only 2 shops around here that let one ride the bikes. The rest say no way. Try to find the bike that fits you. One that doesn't feel heavy while you are in the parking lots and in slow traffic. Any one can ride at 50-80 mph it's the putt putt putt that get people in trouble. Like pulling out of a gas station of jiffy mart...Hope this helped ...scruffy..

I'm 6'0, when I started I was 230 lb, doing strength training 2x per week. I bought a 2000 Drifter (800). It was as big of a bike as I could handle safely. It was almost 600 lb wet (almost 3 times my weight). I actually rode it for 6 years and 36,000 miles... across most of the eastern states, including 700 mi days. Not a bad track record for a 'starter'. The Kawi 900 is like the 800, just with a little more grunt in the stock department, and a belt instead of a chain.
My wife has a Mean Streak (her 3rd bike). Guess who always carries the luggage on any trip.. .. yep. No storage on the Meanie. I take her bike out to run it during the winter, and, even with the Kawi shield on it, there's a lot of wind blast at 60-70 mph (was worse before the shield). It doesn't bother her as much, she's 5'4".
