I have a 2001 V Star 650. It was running great until a couple of days ago. I drove it to and from work with no problems. I parked it in the driveway for about 45 minutes. I went to start it and it would not turn over. Lights, etc come on, but the starter would not turn over. I finally got it to turn over, but it seemed like it was not getting any spark. I finally got it started and it sputtered a bit. I got it running and it ran fine. I drove it down the street and it stalled. It would not turn over for about 20 seconds and then it did. It started up fine. It seems to stall intermittently and will not turn over for a few seconds. Then it turns over and starts fine. I checked out the two kill switches and they seem to be fine. Any suggestions would be welcomed.

I owned a 98vstar650 never had a problem however I aso owned a 1100vstar and did have some issues. Have you rejetted? Sounds like your plugs are somewhat bad. Thats a quick change. My 1100 would sometimes just click I would hit the starter button and it would click from under the seat. That was the ground wire down under the starter. Over a period of time and rain and washes it will get build up and cause a poor connection. The dealership thought it was a relay switch under the seat but thats not it ground wire. I have found out over the last 10years of riding the vstars that they are very carb sensitive. Very easy to foul plugs. I would replace my plugs first if I was you cheap to do and find out.
