New to Cruiser nice plase. I have a 07 vulcan 900 classic with a gross vehicle weight rating of 397 lb.When talking to other riders about over loading this bike if I take on a passenger most say take it slow you will be ok. I feel a litte uneasy about over loading the bike, my wife told me that she thinks I am being anel about it. I see smaller bikes than mine with two rider on them that weigh more than my wife and I all the time. Input anybody?

Are you talking about adding luggage also?
I'm not sure about the total human weight on the bike, but you should be fine. I would go slow at first like suggested, but you will be fine after a while. Maybe some easy rides on a sunday morning to begin with...

Hi; The bike weights about 600lbs. 397 I don't think that you have to worry about anything. If you have concerns Check the air psi. When riding 2up make sure that it is at the recommed max psi. The max psi will be on the tire side wall. Then adjust the shock spring rate up at least 2-3 clicks stiffer. This will help when turning and stopping. Being concerned is not being anel. I know that if you had a blow out at speed with her on. I think that she would get just a little pissed. A flat tire is no fun trust me Hope this help you ...scruffy..

Thanks scruf did not think of the psi. I have made the adjustment to shock to the max. I was suprised to find that the bike did not feel any differient when riding one up. My wife and I combined weight comes to 414lb, plus 8lb for back rest, plus 25lb for saddle bags and stuff inside. This comes to 447lb. What do you thing know?

HI; I ride a C50T it can handle 455 lbs.Engine size 805 cc. The bike weights 542lbs. Check the tires there will be a load limit on the side of the tire. Add the front and rear and that should be the total weight you can carrie. IF you have a squerming(soft) feeling add a little more air. Just a lb or 2 when the heat starts to build in the tire it will get stiffer or feel better. When you feel it you will know. It is not dangerous may feel like it though. You will just have to slow down just a little.Good luck... Ride safe..scruffy..

Hello, I am new to this forum. I recently purchased a 2000 Vulcan 800 (A suffix I believe, the basic model that looks like a Soft Tail)
I too am concerned about the GVWR. I took my wife for a ride last night. That was a stupid move, not knowing the exact specification number. The bike performed fine, but we are not the svelt couple we once were, Ha! Our combined weight is about 408lbs which has to be pushing it. I don't have my little owners manual, so can you please tell me the GVWR ? Thanks in advance, Gerry
