I just noticed that my exhaust pipes are yellowing, so I assume that I am running lean based on what I have read. Is it going to kill my bike to ride it another day until I can get this thing into the shop? Also, has anybody used a product designed to make the chrome look like chrome again? Am I going to have to buy new pipes?

HI. The poping is just cool air getting into the pipes when you back off the throttle. Cool air and hot exhaust pop pop and some times bang. This won't hurt the engine. It just makes noise and sometimes flames out the pipes at nite. I do this on purpose with my hotrod. I have flames coming out the back. It still is together. IF you reinstall the baffels the popping will stop.Good luck. When the air fuel ratio is lean the pipes turn blue. Rich the inside of the pipes turn a sutty black. Ride safe ..scruffy

Cool I have been wondering the same thing with my 02 V Star 1100, pops and sometimes flame I'm running Vance and Hines pipes w/out baffles too, and on my 78 Honda Hawk, it is because when I rebuilt the carbs it cost too much to get new diaphragms. so I reused the old ones, one of them had a rip in it,
