I was just curious if anyone would respond that owns a newer Vulcan 2000? I bought my first street bike just a couple of months ago, a Vulcan 900, and already have 7200 miles on it when I was in the shop the other day for some warranty work, the sales manager came out and told me he would give me what I paid for my bike on a trade on a new 2000 cc. I thought that sounded like a good deal, basically 7000 miles free! But haven't found real great reviews on the VN 2000 online. I was mainly interested on mpg and longevity of the motor since it is basically a big block. It will have 10-15k put on it a year as a commuter vehicle. with the occasional road trip.

DO IT! I have almost 10000 miles on my Vulcan 2000 and haven't had a single issue. In fact, I bought it because of raw power made available in a reliable package. I love my commute. Comfortable and easy, but whenever I'm feeling deviant a quick twist of the throttle pulls my head back and stretches a smile across my face. Don't worry about reliability. If it can handle my driving habits...its solid!

I'm a new V2k owner (first new bike after '96 1400 intruder and 98 1500 intruder LC). Studied the bikes carefully before buying the V2k and am very happy except: 1) the slow break-in period, 2) no fantastic active user site like that for the 2 suzukis. I just assumed there would be a site with all kinds of low-cost mods for this wonderful bike. Any pointers?
I want to: 1) lower the back, 2) make a 2-1 exhaust pipe extension that will preswerve the O2 sensor and allow me to use taller beetle bags, 3) make a wider/lower WindVest type windshield that complements the simple classic lines, 4) make a 2-1 (2 cone K&N filter into the Y) aircleaner or similar, 5) try to use the Dial-a-jet system instead of the dynojet to enrichen on demand.
These are things I was able to do successfully on the other bikes with great results. Should be even better with the V2K!
Sincerely, Swede2th

I just bought my new Vulcan 2000 Classic LT and I Love it! I agree about the breakin period as I am ready to open it up but with only 112 miles on it, I got to take it easy!. It is a big beast of a bike but I am a pretty big guy and I am glad for that. I cant wait to get the wife on back for a few trips! I wish there were more accesories out there for this bike as well, I did get the crash bars and need to get some road pegs (34 mm or 1.35in odd) anyone know of good sites for accesories?

I'm new here. Owned metric bikes when younger and recently Harley's. I'm looking for a new bike and including metrics in my search. My last bike had about 100hp/100lbs torque and I'm looking for about the same. I'd love to hear more about the 2000 to compare against the VTX, Boulevard, Road King/Softail, Victory, and Yamaha.

Check out these two sites for information on breaking in. I did most of the breaking in on my VN2000 in one day.

I can highly recommend the Vulcan 2000. I've owned my 2006 Limited for 2 years this month. Pros: Great brakes, great handling, no mechanical vibration - only the feel of the power pulses, excellent fuel mileage - about 38 to 40 mpg high speed cruising (70-75mph) but if you continually get into the throttle (hard not to) it will drop into the low 30's. Trouble free, gorgeous lines and paint, easy to add accessories....and the best thing of all is torque, torque, torque.... Cons: It's a large, heavy bike and can be a little exciting in low speed parking maneuvers and u-turns. The power pulses can throw you a little off when slow and leaned over. I've been riding for 48 years, but on this one I make wider turns. It would be easy to use slighly higher rpm's by slipping the clutch and you could make very tight turns, but I'm not a clutch slipper. Too much work to replace. It's been totally reliable and trouble free. I'm 6 ft. 220lb.s, my wife over 160lb.s and we've had over 50lb.s of luggage on it and we don't bottom the suspension and the on road handling including sweeper turns is inspiring. The ground clearance in tight corners is shorter than my last cruiser, a '97 Honda Valkyrie Tourer, another great bike, but it's suspension would often bottom out with our load on it. I have added the Kawasaki shorter version classic round-top windshield, large leather bags with easy brackets, touring passenger seat, passenger floorboards and the Kawasaki backrest with luggage rack. It's probably not as fast as the Valkyrie with rider alone, but with the load we carry it would walk on the Valkyrie, especially in a 3rd, 4th or 5th gear roll-on. In a sentence, it's the Peterbuilt of motorcycles. My current other bikes are an '89 Sportster, highly modified, very fast for short periods of time between crankshafts (8000rpm shifts) and a 1966 Honda 305 SuperHawk bought new by me Oct.'65, just 2 months before Uncle Sam invited me to join the Army. There have been many more before and after but these are the keepers, including the Vulcan 2000.

Hi again. I just posted and see I made a little mistake. I bought the 305 SuperHawk Oct. '65, not '95. I guess when you're 67 years old 6's and 9's look the same. Oh, now I can see there is an "edit " button so I've fixed it. Just ignore this post as I can't find a way to cancel it. Damned age.

Hello EYEDOC. Thanks for all that INFO. about your KAWI Vulcan 2000 L.T. Thats just what I wanted to hear about that bike. I'm sold. I should have enough money accumulated in a couple of weeks for a down payment on a brand spankin' new '08 Vulcan 2000 L.T. My wife also loves the bike and she is looking forward to our first trip on it. Thanks again, Amigosaki3.

I have on of the first 2000VN and now have 29000 miles on it. I live in Montana and I have been to Florida and back this year and to DC and back last year. I've never had any problems. You do need to take it for a spin, big difference in handling. LOTS OF POWER!

Cruiser Customizing.com has been fantastic for our bikes. They have a greater selection in stock and keep you posted to when you can expect arrival. I've used JP Cycles, Dennis Kirk, Kuraykan, and Baron Customs.

I've added Vance & Hines exhaust, Baron Big Air Kit and Cobra Fuel processor and I dynoed out at 111 hp w/129 ft/lbs torgue. I'm a 6'4 and 325lbs, this sweetie hauls my plump carcass faster than it ever has been hauled.
