Hi all, this is my first post and great to have found this. I am in the process of buying my first motorcycle, a Suzuki Boulevard 800, which I’ve seen spoken about here. My youngest son, my nephew and I are planning a trip from Sydney, East side of Australia, following the cost to Perth, which is on the West. I am still in the preliminary stages of road planning, travel time, fuel cost, over night place to stay and everything else. Any advice on preparation would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Well, I don't know how much riding experiance you have but if you are just starting out, I would make sure you get a little bit of riding in before you just take off on a long cruise when you first get your bike to understand the braking, acceleration and handling. I am assuming you have been riding for awile being in Sydney (I think they start off with the lower sized bikes for your licensing before you can move up don't they?) Anyway, just some things for the long trip. 1.) Make sure you have a rain suit 2.) Stretch prior to riding and during your brakes. (I know sounds strange but helps out a lot) 3.) Warm cloths if the weather cools 4.) Bring some water just in case you decide to take a side tour out in the Boonies.
That is a few things I can think of off the top of my head! Be safe! Kirk

Thanks for the info Kirk, I do have riding experience, previous bikes were small 175cc Suzuki and a scooter! Woke up when my son told me to get a 'real' bike... I have been planning this for some time now, and the trip is planned for next year. I'm waiting for weather info before deciding the right season to take off. Thanks!

No Problem!
One other thing I just thought of. A small tire plug/patch kit isn't a bad thing either. I haven't had to use mine yet but its there if I do!
